Cannot find pages

description

"Find Pages" does not show all pages that have been tagged with "Tag Pages".

When a Tag is added to a page, the same page cannot be found using the page's tag.

The app is pretty much broke. I suspect due to a change in OneNote. Nothing works properly. Can see tags in settings, but they all show a count of 0 even though many pages are tagged - and properly showing tags on page.

I absolutely depend on this app and really hope a fix is on the way.

HI MacSide,

Thanks for the report. The logfile shows that the OneNote search API is no longer working. It just silently fails and returns empty search results. I'm currently setting up various test environments with different versions of OneNote to reproduce the problem here. Can you tell me the exact version of OneNote where search fails?

I hope I can figure out to how fix that.

Thanks,
WetHat

I am using Office 365. Current version is 1703 (Build 7967.2139)

Within the "Find Tagged Pages" window, I am able to enter a search term in the combo box next to the "All Notebooks" scope section button, and results show in the Found Pages section of the window.

Hi MacSide,

I have found a setup which reproduces the issue. The OneNote search API is broken in a number of newer versions of Office 365. I found a work around to resurrect the tag search, but full text search is broken beyond repair. If I do not find a solution for full text search, I would need to remove it from the tagging kit.

Excellent! I hope you can save the full text search as well, but I for one will take the page tags working properly without. The full text search works now, and I hope you can save them both.

Good luck!

Hi MacSide,

I've uloaded a bugfix release (3.1) of the tagging kit. The root cause of the problem is actually a bad Windows update (particularly the Windows 10 creators update). After that the integration of OneNote with the Windows Search Service (ala Windows Desktop Search) is broken and the OneNote API no longer returns search results.

For finding tagged pages I could implement an alternative method, but full text search is broken until Microsoft fixes the search integration (defect report submitted).

Please also see the release notes of version 3.1 for more information.

Hope this helps,

WetHat

Thanks a mint!

I hope you're able to restore the app to its full brilliance I enjoyed prior to the Creator's Update.

Thanks again.
