Adding/Removing Tags on a OneNote Page

  1. Open a OneNote page which you want to tag
  2. On the OneNote Home tab click on the Tag Pages button in the Page Tags command group: MenuBase 1.png
  3. The Tag Pages dialog opens where you can select and apply tags to OneNote pages as described below: TagPages.png
  4. Define the tags to apply to a range of pages in any of the following ways:
    • Type one or more tags separated by comma ',' into the tag input box (7) and press ENTER. The tags will be added to the Tags list as you typed them.
    • Type one or more tags separated by comma ',' into the tag input box (7) and pick one or more tags from the list of suggested tags (9). The entered or picked tags will appear in the Tags panel (5). The tag suggestions (9) are updated as you type. To clear the tag input box (7) click on the clear input button (8)
    • Select a preset filters (6) to generate tag suggestions (9) and pick one or more tags from the list of suggested tags (9). To clear the tag input box (7) click on the clear input button (8)
  5. If you have selected too many tags you can remove individual tags from the Tags (5) panel by pressing them or you can remove all tags at once by clicking the Clear button (4).
  6. Select a range of pages to apply the tags to in the scope selector (0). If you have chosen the Selected Pages option you may at this point select any number of pages in the current OneNote section. Do not close the Tag Pages dialog while selecting pages in OneNote. To select multiple pages remember to hold the CTRL key during selection.
  7. Apply the tags shown in (5) to the selected range of pages by pressing one of the action buttons (1), (2), or (3). Following actions are available:
    • Add Tags (1): The tags shown in (5) are added to the a range of pages. Other Tags already on the range of pages are left intact.
    • Set Tags (2): The tags shown in (5) replace all tags in the range of pages
    • Remove Tags (3): The tags shown in (5) are removed to the a range of pages. Other Tags already on the range of pages which do not appear in the list are left intact.
  8. Tag changes should appear on the current page like so: pageTags.png

Notes:
  • When entering tags that were not previously used, they are added automatically to suggestion list (9) next time you open the dialog.
